Broker Spotlight – Zach Middleton

Rugby is one of the most physically demanding sports in the world. It requires brawn, speed and tremendous conditioning. Life as a commercial real estate agent is equally demanding—maybe not in terms of physical fitness—but certainly when it comes to mental toughness. Long hours, stress and rejection are part of the gig; but so is trust, building relationships and successful outcomes—just like a winning rugby team. Perhaps it’s this correlation between the sport and the industry that drove Zach Middleton to The Klabin Company.

Broker Spotlight – Tyler Rollema

Tyler Rollema started his career in commercial real estate in 2012 when he landed a position with Coldwell Banker Commercial in Long Beach after earning his degree from Westmont College in Montecito. Calif. One might think that while at Westmont, Tyler focused his studies on economics and business or something more applicable to real estate. It was quite the opposite. Comfort Obsession

Why are we so obsessed with comfort these days? If you don’t believe me, think about your last couple of decisions. Broker Spotlight – Nick Buss

Nick Buss joined The Klabin Company in 2019. Although new to commercial real estate, his life accomplishments are impressive to say the least and he knows the value of being part of a team. He played Division I college baseball for the University of Southern California (USC); was drafted in the 8th round by the Los Angeles Dodgers; enjoyed a more than 10-year career in professional baseball; had two stints in the Major Leagues (first with the Dodgers and then with the Los Angeles Angels); hit a home run for the Angels; won a batting title in Triple AAA baseball and got to travel all over the country playing the game he loved. Not to mention, he had the opportunity to play with the likes of Clayton Kershaw, Mike Trout, and Albert Pujols, all future hall of famers. Not bad for a kid from a small town 40 minutes outside of Detroit, eh?

Culture of Contentment

The average person in the United States–regardless of age or gender–spends four years at a job, creating a revolving door effect for many companies. However, at The Klabin Company, the average tenure of our team members is currently 14 years and growing. People are often surprised to find out that I have remained at the same company for my entire working, adult life. I wouldn’t be honest if I didn’t admit to considering the idea of leaving The Klabin Company over the last 14 years in search of a greener pasture, but there is always something that draws me to stay. You see, these days, I have found that people tend to chase their contentment. Don’t get me wrong, I love the idea of chasing dreams and doing something that makes you happy. That’s just it though, I don’t think people really know what makes them happy and they end up in a rut of monotony. I don’t think it is a big secret, but no amount of money or dream job will ever make a person happy. In my opinion, people chase contentment in all the wrong places.
